With Nomad Refill, a 10 ml purse spray that is refillable in less than 5 seconds, Aptar Beauty wants to transform the at-home refill experience by targeting the on-the-go use of perfume.
A new refill technology for a new fragrance category
Aptar Beauty has reengineered the refilling process, with a simple and convenient solution that does not require any additional accessory, thanks to a patented integrated connector.
The new Nomad Refill purse spray is refillable in less than 5 seconds on any perfume bottle using SNI15 screw pump (which tends to become the norm on the market).
The refilling process can be completed in a few simple steps: simply screw the Nomad Refill connector onto the perfume bottle after having unscrewed the pump from the fragrance, flip it upside down and slightly pull Nomad Refill to activate the refilling process. The refilling will automatically stop when full, leaving a free expansion space in the 10ml bottle to avoid any risk of overfilling and to keep pressure within safety limits
This technology prevents any leakage, while keeping the fragrance free from contact with air to maintain its olfactory integrity. Consumers can still control the refill amount, as the flow stops as soon as the bottle is released.
Perceived value
Aptar Beauty evaluated the perceived benefits of this new technology in a qualitative consumer study [1]. It appears safe and secure, clean, quick and easy.
A quantitative consumer study [2] conducted by IPSOS in France and China also confirmed an added value in perception when sold alone, as a separate product. Fragrance buyers ranked Nomad Refill among the best innovation concepts across all product category, showing engagement and interest. According to the study, 97% of Chinese and 81% of French fragrance users would buy this product, with a particularly strong interest in France among ultra luxe and niche fragrance buyers.
Customization solutions
Nomad Refill is also highly customizable. Aptar Beauty can apply a wide range of customization options to suit a broad array of brand aesthetics. It supports all types of decoration, such as coloration and metal engraving, all the way to the most elaborate finishes. Brands can also create a personalized luxury casing in co-development with the Aptar Beauty Custom team.
“Nomad Refill has the potential to create a new segment in the fragrance market,” explains Sophie Magdelaine, Global Platform Senior Manager Fragrance, Aptar Beauty.
For the first time, consumers can carry their own favorite fragrance around and refill it easily, so they can enjoy as many touch-ups as they want during the day.

They are no longer considered to be a lesser version of a full-size fragrance. Consumers now see them as more than a sample; they see them as a true object of desire.
