When it comes to the art scene, both Columbus and Cincinnati have impressive collections and creative vibes. In this section, we’ll dive into the cultural treasures that define these cities and explore how each city expresses its unique identity through art.

Cincinnati’s scene

As artist Asha White, states, “Cincinnati has an amazing art scene that may be surprising for a midwestern city of our size. Whether you love live performances, live music, or visual arts, like me, Cincinnati is a place to see it all. Some of my favorite galleries in town are the Weston, The Contemporary Art Center, Kennedy Heights Art Center, Wave Pool, and the list goes on! One of the best places to see performances is the Arnoff Center for the Artis, which often brings Broadway plays, ballet showcases, and orchestra performances to our city. Cincinnati is the city for artists and art lovers in the Midwest!”

Starr Shebesta of ARTclectic Gallery adds, “Cincinnati is home to many nationally recognized artists and has a long history of supporting art creation. ARTclectic Gallery’s mission is to promote artwork by Cincinnati regional artists, many of whom are nationally and internationally renowned. We do this through rotational exhibitions, monthly afternoon teas, and special events.  We invite new residents to explore contemporary wall art, sculpture, fiber art, and more, in our beautiful gallery setting!”

When you’re in Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Art Museum is a fantastic destination for art enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. This museum boasts an impressive collection of over 6,000 years of art history, including everything from ancient artifacts to contemporary masterpieces. With its diverse exhibits, you can explore works by renowned artists and discover new favorites. The museum’s stunning architecture and beautiful gardens add to the experience for a relaxing day of art appreciation. Plus, admission is free, making it an accessible and inviting spot to immerse yourself in creativity and culture.

Additionally, don’t miss the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC), a hub for cutting-edge art and innovative exhibitions. The CAC is known for its collection of contemporary artworks that push the boundaries of creativity. The museum’s striking modern architecture is just the beginning — inside, you’ll find thought-provoking installations, multimedia art, and works from both emerging and established artists. The CAC’s exhibitions and programs make it an exciting space where art is constantly evolving, offering visitors a fresh and exciting experience with every visit.

The communal love for art is reflected in all the events Cincinnati offers that share artists’ work. Another great example comes from James Jenkins from Art on Vine, who says, “Have you heard about the amazing event happening in Cincinnati, Art on Vine? Stroll through 400 West Rich and Chromedge, two historic buildings transformed into bustling artist studios.
