“It is quite clear that the pandemic has increased consumers’ desire for well-being. They are now looking for products that go beyond mere topical efficacy or the act of perfuming. They want products that provide a sense of well-being during or immediately after application, give them a moment to themselves and even have a positive effect on their mood,” explains Katia De Martino, President, CEO and Founder of Essentia Beauty.
To meet these expectations, Essentia Beauty’s R&D team worked with its partners, in particular the perfume houses, to find innovative solutions. This work led to the creation of two new galenic formulations and the identification of ingredients that act both on the skin and on emotions.
Two-phase and microemulsion formula
Unveiled at Paris Packaging Week, these two new galenic formulas have been brought together under the Loving Fragrance line and are designed for the well-being of the skin and the mind.
The first formula is an alcohol-free innovation consisting of an oil phase and a water phase. Its composition nourishes and moisturises the skin thanks to integrated actives, while leaving a fragrant veil on the skin.
The second solution is a microemulsion with a liquid, milky appearance, obtained using advanced technology to facilitate the integration of actives and fragrances. This hybrid formula both perfumes and moisturises, leaving a velvety finish on the skin.
Even better, Essentia Beauty has identified several active ingredients that have benefits on the skin – moisturising, anti-ageing, protective – and the mood. These include Andrographis paniculata (green chiretta) leaf extracts, which restore the skin’s radiance, smooth the skin’s texture and improve well-being. Tephrosia purpurea (purple tephrosia) seed extracts activate the release of natural soothing neuropeptides that act on the mood. In vivo tests have shown its effectiveness in improving skin tone evenness and control skin stress.
Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) leaf oil is also one of several dual-action ingredients identified by Essentia Beauty. It works in two ways, inhalation and topical application, to promote sleep and provide a revitalised complexion in the morning. Clinical studies have shown its beneficial effects on skin regeneration, making it look healthier.
