Kientzler Innovaplant Expands Stock Production into Guatemala

Andreas Kientzler of Kientzler Innovaplant has signed a purchase agreement to expand the company’s stock production into Guatemala. The new facility, Innovaplant de Guatemala S.A., is currently focused on new construction and facility upgrades to assure Kientzler’s production standards are adopted. The pilot production will start in Fall of 2025. Commercial production is planned for the Fall of 2026.

Innovaplant de Costa Rica (Sarchi, Costa Rica), a 30-acre facility with 700 employees at peak, will continue operations “delivering the unsurpassed quality and reliability that has driven the success of Kientzler for the past 30 years,” according to the company.

“It is with great pride that my family and I will expand our Central American operations to Guatemala,” says Andreas Kientzler, Kientzler Board Member. “With the addition of this third location, we look forward to expanding our capacity, while maintaining the quality our valued customers have come to expect from us.”

Four generations of Kientzlers have created strong partnerships over the decade, none more important than being a Proven Winners North America and Europe member. In addition, Kientzler North America supports product introductions and supply for multiple breeding organizations including Sakata, Suntory, Concept Plants, PlantHaven and Kientzler’s own breeding.

“Nathan Sell and I have the greatest respect for the Kientzler family and their approach to servicing our North American supply chain,” says Steve Rinehart, Managing Director, Kientzler NA. “We both have experience with Guatemalan operations previously and understand the opportunity this provides us to strengthen our broker partnerships, with expanded service to our valued customers.”

Andreas Kientzler also announced the company has named Byron Calderon as General Manager of the Innovaplant de Guatemala facility. Calderon has much experience in similar roles, as he held a similar position while at Ecke de Guatemala facility in the past.

“Byron embodies the team culture and facility standards that we support within Kientzler,” says Andreas Kientzler.
