After a scary fall, Washington Nationals outfielder Daylen Lile was released from the hospital with just a lower back contusion, manager Davey Martinez announced Sunday.

Lile was taken off the field on a stretcher after he tumbled over the wall in right-center during Saturday’s exhibition game against the Boston Red Sox in Fort Myers, Florida.

Lile, the club’s No. 6 prospect according to Kiley McDaniel’s 2024 rankings, was attempting to catch Red Sox prospect Tyler Miller’s solo home run in the seventh inning.

After the fall, members of the Red Sox stationed in the bullpen immediately flagged the Washington trainers to tend to Lile, who had movement in his arms and legs and was taken to a local hospital.

Martinez on Sunday said Lile had returned to West Palm Beach after undergoing a CT scan. The outfielder has soreness, but Martinez told reporters that Lile is day-to-day and should be able to play once he’s feeling better.

Lile was a second-round selection by Washington in 2021, out of Kentucky.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
