Never-never land, an orange field and more from CFB Week 4's best trolls

With the college football calendar beginning to flip from nonconference to conference play, team social media pages got off another round of quality trolls.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights continue to roll this season, with their latest triumph a 26-23 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies on the road in Blacksburg. The Scarlet Knights raced to an early 14-0 first-quarter lead, before sealing the win via a 36-yard field goal by Jai Patel with just under two minutes left.

After the game, Rutgers’ social media team paid homage to a line from Metallica’s “Enter Sandman,” which is played in Virginia Tech‘s Lane Stadium before games.

Here’s a look at some of the best postgame jabs from Week 4 of the college football season.

One of the early surprises this college football season has been the Army Black Knights, who are off to a 3-0 start. Army continued its momentum in its Week 4 clash with the Rice Owls, as a 21-point second quarter propelled the Black Knights to an assertive victory at Michie Stadium.

After the game Army poked fun at its record against teams with Rice’s Owl mascot — the Black Knights also dispatched the Florida Atlantic Owls 24-7 in Week 2.

The Ohio State Buckeyes handled business against the Marshall Thundering Herd, easing past an early touchdown by Marshall to secure a five-score victory. Star transfer Quinshon Judkins shined in the win, rushing for 173 yards as well as a pair of scores on14 carries.

The Buckeyes referenced the bison of Marshall’s Thundering Herd moniker with a simple postgame jab.

The Virginia Cavaliers got back in the win column after a Week 3 loss to Maryland, amassing over 500 yards of offense in a 43-24 victory over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

The ‘Hoos made the trip down to Conway, South Carolina, for the game, and celebrated their road victory with a postgame video displaying Coastal Carolina’s iconic teal field — with an orange makeover.

One week after nearly upsetting the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs, the Kentucky Wildcats bounced back and cruised to a dominant win over the Ohio Bobcats. The Wildcats’ ground game rolled, with six different players combining for over 200 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

After the game, Kentucky jokingly referenced the shared second half of the school’s respective mascots.

The battle for the Iron Skillet looked more like a track meet, as the SMU Mustangs raced out to an early 17-0 lead while the TCU Horned Frogs tried to make up ground for the rest of the game.

The Mustangs came out on top, and after the final whistle trolled their rival with a video showing, among other things, frog legs being cooked in a skillet, complete with a caption similar to TCU’s own surrealist post-victory videos.

Conference wins just mean a bit more, especially in the SEC. The Arkansas Razorbacks got their conference slate started with a victory on Saturday, dispatching the Auburn Tigers on the road at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Earlier in the week Auburn’s social media team promoted the game with a graphic showing a large tiger looming over a pig in a snow-filled stadium. Arkansas paid tribute to the post with a video revealing a large block ice ‘L’ inside a freezer paired with a caption inspired by the 2013 film “Frozen.”.
