TOP STORY: Chiesa to Barcelona if Sterling to Juventus?
Barcelona are studying a move for Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, according to Sport.
It is believed that an offer worth €14million would be enough to land 26-year-old Chiesa, who is being considered by Barcelona more strongly after the club recently failed to sign Athletic Club winger Nico Williams.
Chiesa remains one of the players that the Bianconeri are looking to move on this summer, while he is reportedly keen on making the switch to LaLiga amid interest from several clubs in Europe.
Chiesa’s exit could make room for Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling. ESPN sources have reported that Juventus made an official enquiry for Sterling, with the 29-year-old looking for “clarity” on his future at Stamford Bridge after being left out of manager Enzo Maresca’s squad in their 2-0 loss to Manchester City.
Sterling could be seen as a replacement for Chiesa should the Italy international join manager Hansi Flick’s side, though he could need to accept a lower salary, with his current €6 million-per-season contract difficult for Barca to match.
PAPER GOSSIP
– Fulham have met Burnley’s valuation for midfielder Sander Berge, reports the Athletic. Both sides are said to have agreed a deal worth a total of £25 million including bonuses, with Berge, who was recently linked with Manchester United, now travelling to west London to undergo a medical. Personal terms are reported to have already been agreed.
– Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is set to stay at the Allianz Arena despite pressure from the club’s hierarchy to leave, says Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg. Goretzka, 29, is not expected to feature in the starting eleven for new manager Vincent Kompany, but the latest indicates that he is set to stay and fight for his place after the Bundesliga side looked to part ways with him.
– Arsenal have received an offer from Wolves for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to the Athletic. A loan proposal is reported to have been made to the Gunners for the 26-year-old on Monday, with the deal also believed to include an option clause that allows them to sign him permanently next summer. Wolves are also expected to cover the “majority” of Ramsdale’s salary.
– A deal has been completed by Juventus and AC Milan for centre-back Pierre Kalulu, reports Gazzetta dello Sport. An agreement worth €20 million is reported to have been signed off between both clubs for the 24-year-old, who is believed to be set to undergo his medical with the Bianconeri on Tuesday. Kalulu made just nine Serie A starts for the Rossoneri last season.
– Manchester United are keen to move on centre-back Victor Lindelöf before the transfer window closes, according to Football Insider. The 30-year-old Sweden international entered the final 12 months of his contract at Old Trafford in the summer, and it looks as though manager Erik ten Hag sees no place for him in his squad. Lindelof is currently unavailable after sustaining an injury during preseason.
